Hi friends,
I came across this old post from Tom’s Workbench recently that talks about tools beyong the basics that many homeowners-turned-woodworkers end up needing, and figured I’d put together a helpful post for it, since many of you may be starting out fresh.
First off are the things you probably have (other than a drill and screwdrivers.. which are no brainers) – I’ve added pictures so you know exactly what each tool looks like, as well as links straight to the pictured tools if you want to check out their specs:
A Circular Saw
DEWALT DWE575SB 7-1/4-Inch Lightweight Circular Saw with Electric Brake
A Table Saw
DEWALT DWE575SB 7-1/4-Inch Lightweight Circular Saw with Electric Brake
Hand Tools, Such as Chisels
Stanley 16-150 150 Series Short Blade 3-Piece Wood Chisel Set
A Bandsaw (this thing is awesome)
POWERTEC BS900 Band Saw, 9-Inch
A Miter Saw
Pssst.. check out our DIY miter saw table post!
Hitachi C10FCE2 10-Inch Compound Miter Saw
A Track Saw
These are a little pricier but worth it for their uses:

That’s it for the “most wanted” tools list by new woodworkers.. what do you think? Any must-have tools that are missing? Let me know in the comments.
